Textiles A2
Since I am a textiles student wanting to take a fashion route, I have been focussing on Bridal Fashion using lace and florals throughout my sketchbook. My sketchbook has been used as a build up to my final piece of a bridal inspired dress, being made in January. I wanted to show how I am focussing on a fashion element to my textiles work.
Inspirations
There is no decade I am influenced by more than the 60s. Shift dresses and bold statement blocked colours have inspired me to create my own 60s inspired fashion drawings. (Influences from Dolce & Gabbana/The Kooples/own influences)

Being a textiles student I wanted to show a recent piece I made inspired by lace using a mixture of techniques to create different doily's. This also shows I am experienced with the sewing machine.
Techniques I have used:
Techniques I have used:
- Fusing/trapping lace and mixed fabrics
- Ink and bleach
- Cut out
- Stitch and Slash
To show my range of techniques and skills, I have previously used Photoshop and QuarkXpress for my AS media studies. This shows that I am flexible with not only the practical aspects of design, but also technical. Both examples show a music magazine front cover and contents page I had to create for an indie music magazine.

Practise
To build up my collection of sketches and mannequins for fashion ideas, I wanted to get a rough idea of a starting point in the type of fashions I am interested in, so created a practice drawing of Alexa Chung's cover from Stylist Magazine. Additionally, I wanted to practice my shading and sketching of still life imagery, focussing on Marc Jacobs' Perfume bottle Daisy.
Work Experience: Alison Appleton Summer 13
I spent 4 days at Alison Appleton's textile studio to help with her latest tea towel range, and to also get experience that can relate to fashion. I looked up latest fashions/trends/colours in order to design my own ceramic tea cup and coaster using clay sculpturing. This also involved designing new ideas for her collection.
